1. Basic principles of the game
Train Tycoon enables you to try personally how difficult is to run a big transport company. You construct railways, buy trains, make changes in the landscape, fulfil bonus assignments and make your best to keep the company well-established. Choosing the strategy is up to you. In addition to the free game, where you can set some details of a map (a size, a number of factories or cities and a level of artificial intelligence), a special campaign with 13 missions and gradually rising levels of difficulty is prepared.

2. Construction
The construction of the railway infrastructure is alpha and omega of Train Tycoon. There are the construction components:

a) railway station
The railway station is the only building you can construct. Its importance is great since this is a place where material supplies are stored, mail is kept and where people can wait.

b) railway tracks
Local communications are formed with railway. You can choose whether you build the railway part by part into the ground or whether you let the automatic railway construction to find the proper way to connect two points. The second variant is easier but the sought route does not always have to be the ideal one.

c) bridges
In Train Tycoon there is not only land but also water. However, you do not have to be desperate – instead of constructing the railway elaborately around lakes, you can build a bridge.

d) landscape
It is generally known that the world is not flat. In Train Tycoon you have to deal with hard accessible places through raising or lowering the terrain.

e) demolition
Sometimes it can happen that you make a mistake and build something in a place that is not suitable for it. Then you can use a dynamite in order to demolish railway tracks, railway station or trees.

3. Railway construction
As it is clear from the title of the game, all the transport is made with trains. To use trains is not difficult, neverthless there are detailed instructions in order to prevent possible troubles:

4. Factories
You have your incomes from passenger, mail and raw material transport. Material is produced in factories. There are some basic information:

5. Bank and statistics
Considering the fact that Train Tycoon is a very vast game and money plays the main role, all the receipts and expenditures including the final balance are recorded into transparent graphs or text statistics, where you can check how successful you were in a certain month.
At the beginning you usually have small capital but there is a possibility of borrowing the money from a bank. However, the loan interests are quite high.
