It is the year of 1950 and the transport connections are not a common thing. Many cities stay cut off from the rest of the world, newly built factories need somebody to bring raw material for them, the mines exploit but there is nobody to transport the coal to the power station...

This is the opportunity for an apt businessman - for you. Build a transport empire, which will prosper. Make changes in the landscape, construct railways, buy and innovate trains, pay your debts, mind what citizens think about you, fulfil optional tasks, let yourself go into the world of investments and profits. Let yourself go into the world of Train Tycoon.

Overview

Train Tycoon is a trading strategy similar to legendary and world famous games such as Transport Tycoon or Railroad Tycoon and is adapted for majority of available mobile phones.

You are put into the role of businessman, you are given a certain amount of money and your task is to build a transport empire. You can construct railways and buy trains. The aim of this game is to transport raw material and passengers from one place to another and by doing so to gain money for further development. To prevent the game from becoming monotonous, a lot of optional tasks and missions are prepared new trains are added, the old ones need reparations and there are many other possibilities...

Train Tycoon brings unique elements that have not appeared in mobile games yet.

Terrain

Train Tycoon brings a revolutionary possibility of multi-level terrain and so rendering of the game world is more realistic. Moreover, you can change the landscape in the game - but it costs money, of course. Multi-level terrain adds a completely new dimension to the game - more possibilities for the players: water, bridges, trains slow down when going up the hill, etc.

The game world is much more realistic thanks to several kinds of supplementary objects, which are present at the map always in a large number. You can find several kinds of stones and trees there.

The game world including hills, water, trees and other details is generated at random and so there are always many ways of how to play the game. The game experience is unrepeatable and always brings something new.

Cities

In Train Tycoon there are a lot of cities which are - as well as the rest of the game world - generated at random and prepare unrepeatable experience for you. The cities consist of roads and several types of houses and grow gradually.

If the railway station is built near the city, it is possible to transport the passengers from one city to another. The great advantage is that you can transport people and mail in both directions. On the other hand the number of the passengers waiting at the station is dependent on how popular you are among the citizens. Your popularity is influenced by many factors - excessive construction or demolition in the vicinity of the city decreases the popularity while passenger transportation increases it. If you do not take any notice of the city events, your popularity can also decrease.

Industry

Apart from passenger and mail transportation you can also carry three kinds of material - wood, oil and coal. There is always a supplier who has one of these materials and you can load it on your train and deliver it to the place where it is needed. Each of these materials has its specific attributes - a price for a unit, speed of production, etc.

In this game you can also find a sawmill, a forest, a coal mine, a thermal power station, an oil well and a refiner. Each of these objects is generated at random from individual parts and so the game dispose of an inexhaustible number of variations.

The game offers several ways of how to play it - you can either concentrate on delivery of one of material item or choose the way of providing transport services.

Railway tracks

One of your main tasks is to construct railways to connect cities or industrial buildings. You can build the tracks, bridges and railway stations and change the landscape. Apart from various construction it is also possible to demolish some objects of the game world and all the object that you have built.

The game enables to cross some types of tracks in order to form crossing. Trains give way to each other automatically.

There is also a possibility of automatic construction. Between two given points the best possible railway is projected including bridges and crossing. You can then view the railway and decide whether to accept or refuse it.

Railway stations

Railway stations are very important elements of this game. If you build some tracks, you should always finish them with a station where your trains can load or unload transported material. The game dispose of two types of railway stations. A smaller station is cheaper and does not need much place but on the other hand it also does not have such a storage capacity as the bigger station does.

When building a station you can see a summary of available material which the station will accept or which will be supplied. If several railway stations are built one next to each other, redistribution of material occurs between them and you can build even a large complex.

And there is one more important thing - when you select the railway station, it will enable you to build a train in it.

Trains

Train Tycoon contains 6 types of locomotives. Each of them has different features - price, speed or consumption. Not all the locomotives are available immediately and you have to either wait for them or in some cases a new locomotive is offered to you as a bonus for fulfilling some optional tasks.

Each locomotive can have as many as five wagons. There are wagons for wood or coal transport - you can even see whether they are loaded or empty. There are also cisterns for oil and wagons for passengers and mail.

When buying a train you have to choose optimal proportion between the distance and the length of the train because the length influences speed and consumption of the train.

Each train can be set - it can either wait at the railway station for full loading or it can be moving all the time and load just what is stored at the station at the moment. Each of these variants is suitable in a different situation.

As the time passes the trains get older and their price and also their driving properties fall down. You have a possibility of repairing the

Artificial intelligence

The game contains a high level of artificial intelligence. In missions or in a free game you can meet as many as 3 enemies who build their own railways autonomously, buy and innovate trains and behave as real players.

The existence of artificial intelligence brings a new dimension into the game. You have to monitor which industrial objects and cities are controlled by the artificial intelligence and then optimize the length of your trains and other parameters. All the industrial objects and cities have a limited production and so the artificial intelligence influences your game in a very fundamental way.

Optional tasks

In order to enable you to achieve also some less important aims and to prevent the game from becoming a stereotype some optional tasks are generated automatically in certain time intervals. When you fulfil these tasks you get a bonus reward. In the game there are an inexhaustible number of tasks and also types of reward which you can gain. All the tasks, rewards and other information are generated automatically.

At any time you can read a list of tasks including the rewards and also check how many percent of the task you have already done.

• Certain percentage of the relevant amount of money
• Flat amount of money for fulfilling a task
• A maximum raise of a possible bank loan
• An immediate obtaining of a new technology - new locomotives
• Train service is free of charge for a certain period of time
• The price for wood, coal, oil, passengers or mail is doubled for a certain period of time
• The bank will release you from paying the debts
• The bank will cut interest rates

The bank and statistics

Another strategic component of the game is a use of bank services. In some missions it is even inevitable. You can borrow a certain amount of money and then have to pay the instalments monthly. As a reward for fulfilling an optional task the possible amount of money that you can borrow could be raised or the bank can cut the interest rates or you can be released from a part of you debt.

The game contains detailed statistics and graphs and so you can have a perfect control over your company. You can check current annual or monthly profits and you also have an access to the profits from a last year or a last month. All the profits and payments for railway construction, trains or loan interests are recorded in detail.

You have an access to graphs or text summaries of profits, general balance or company value in last 12 months or last 10 years.

The map and time compression

In order to have a control over the game world you can look into a detailed map which shows yours as well as your enemies´ tracks, cities, industrial objects, trees, hills and water areas. The map also contains a legend for you in order to understand the meaning of colors of the objects.

In some cases it can be convenient for you to stop a march of time, to watch the map carefully and to think of different possibilities. For this purpose the game dispose of the function: stop the time. Using this function you can move over the map but majority of actions are refused, e.g. you cannot build new railway tracks.

If you do not want to wait when you do not have enough money, it is possible to activate time compression. Time then passes more quickly. In the case something unexpected happens, the fast mode is stopped automatically so as you can react in a proper way.

Missions and the finish of the game

The game contains 13 missions with rising levels. Several of the first missions serve as a tutorial at the same time and have limited number of items in menu. There are also very simple tasks to enable you to become familiar with the game. Only the finished missions or a mission unlocked by finishing the previous one are available. To finish the mission you have to transport a certain amount of raw material, earn a certain amount of money or pay your debts to the bank. At any time during the game you can check the assignment and also see how many percent you have done.

You can lose the game if you are in red at the end of the year and so it is not possible for you to pay for anything. During the year you can be in red but you have to earn some money by 1.1.

A free game

If you do not like playing the game through individual missions or you have already finished all of them, you can play so called free game which is endless. You can just lose. When creating a free game, you can set a lot of different parameters a size of the map, a number of factories and cities, a number of enemies and the speed and also a difficulty of the game.

By the difficulty of the game you can influence interest rates in a bank, the maximum amount of a loan, an increase of prices during the year, etc.

The free game and a number of facultative parameters gives you the possibility to play the game exactly as you want to play it and also raises the playable time of the game.

A support of touch screens

The game fully supports devices with a touch screen and it is possible to play the whole game by stylus. This possibility brings completely new experience on phones with a touch screen and the game experience is much closer to the one that is common on a personal computer. The game is designed in a way ensuring that the control is intuitive and single actions are easily controlled by stylus - in the game, on a map or in dialogues.
